Course Description:

This one-day Non-Licensed Asbestos Removal Training course provides participants with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to safely and effectively handle non-licensed asbestos-containing materials (ACMs). The course covers both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience to ensure participants are fully equipped to carry out non-licensed asbestos removal work in accordance with industry best practices.

Course Objectives:

  • Introduction to Asbestos: Understand the nature of asbestos, the different types of asbestos materials, and the health risks associated with exposure to asbestos fibres.
  • Identifying Non-Licensed Asbestos Materials: Learn to identify common non-licensed asbestos-containing materials, such as asbestos cement, textured coatings, and vinyl floor tiles, and assess their condition to determine when removal is necessary.
  • Safe Work Practices: Learn the safe procedures for handling and removing non-licensed asbestos materials, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), respiratory protection, and safe work methods to minimise the risk of exposure to asbestos fibres.
  • Practical Session: Engage in a hands-on session where participants will practice essential skills, such as:
    • Properly donning and doffing PPE.
    • Using wetting techniques to prevent asbestos fibre release.
    • Implementing safe removal and disposal practices.
    • Following decontamination procedures to ensure the safe removal of contamination from workers and tools.
  • Decontamination Procedures: Understand the proper decontamination procedures for both workers and equipment to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Waste Disposal: Learn how to correctly handle and dispose of asbestos waste to ensure compliance with legal and environmental requirements.
  • Emergency Procedures: Gain knowledge on how to respond to emergency situations, including accidental exposure or contamination, and the steps to take to prevent further risk.
  • Record Keeping: Understand the importance of keeping accurate records of asbestos removal work, including risk assessments, safe work procedures, and waste disposal documentation.

This course is suitable for workers in construction, maintenance, demolition, and refurbishment industries who may come into contact with non-licensed asbestos-containing materials during their work (Asbestos cement, textured coating etc). It is also ideal for supervisors and managers who need to ensure that their team members are properly trained to handle non-licensed asbestos removal safely.

Duration:

The course is 1 day in length, combining both theoretical and practical components to ensure that participants are fully prepared to safely remove non-licensed asbestos-containing materials.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate confirming their attendance and knowledage in non-licensed asbestos removal.
